Jesse Hughes was born 1811-1812. He married Mary Alice Powell (Owens, Dictionary of Alabama Biography ). Jesse Hughes named a daughter Rhoda Jane Hughes.

Mary (Powell) Hughes born in Pendleton County, S.C. February 14, 1818; moved as a child with family to Blount County, AL; married Jesse Hughes; buried at Bethel Cemetery, north Jefferson County, AL. |
George Hughes (ca 1815) was evidently a brother of Jesse Hughes. George Hughes named a daughter Rhoda Elizabeth Hughes. The name George Washington Hughes appears in both of these Hughes families in Jefferson County, Alabama and also in the Laurens County, S.C. Hughes families.
The only males aged 15-20 in 1830 census of Jefferson County are with Rhoda.
It can be assumed that Jesse and George were are close relatives of Rhoda.
Micajah Hughes listed above in the 1830 Jefferson County Census must be a cousin or brother of George Hughes husband of Rhoda (Garrett) Hughes.
