Jeremiah Ratliff

Jeremiah RATLIFF was born between 1760 and 1770 in North Carolina, probably in Granville County, part of which became Franklin County. Research in Franklin County, N.C. and Blount County, Al. suggests the following biography for this Jeremiah Ratliff:
He lived in Franklin County on February 15, 1784 when his probable sister Martha married Charles Holt there. He probably married there before 1789. He probably moved to Spartanburg County South Carolina with the Holt's about ten years after the close of the Revolutionary War and then to Franklin County, Georgia where they lived about seven years and were there in 1801. He moved to the State of Tennessee where he lived in Dixon, Hickman and Rutherford Counties. He moved to Alabama about 1817 where he lived in Saint Clair County in 1820 and in Jefferson County in 1830. He died between 1830 and 1840. His estate was settled in Blount County, Alabama in 1846. His wife, whose name is not known, was born between 1760 and 1770 and died before 1846. His estate settlement suggests the following children:

1. Joshua, a son, born 9 May 1789; married Rhoda Baker; died 17 Nov 1847; buried at Mt. Calvary Presbyterian, Pinson, Jefferson, Alabama.

2. Barbara, a daughter, who married George Dayley December 30 1818 in Jefferson County, Alabama; died before 1846.

3. Elizabeth, a daughter, who married George Dayley before 1846.

4. John RATLIFF, a son, who was born ca. 1801 in Georgia. He married Ferebie HOPPER (the daughter of George ? HOPPER) August 3, 1820 in Jefferson County, Alabama. Ferebie Hopper was born ca. 1801 in Georgia. John's estate settlement suggests the following children:
