Hugh B. Gillespie and wife Margaret Gillespie both of county of Jefferson, for twelve hundred dollars in hand paid by John C. Gillispie of county of Blount give quit claim in favor of John C. Gillespie for our right title claim interst and demand of in and to --- part of the estate ------- and personal of David Gillespie Sr deceased to which we are entitled. As one of the legal representatives of the said David Gillespie Sr deceased......set our hands and affixed our seals this ___ day of January A D one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven.

Indenture entered fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven between Thomas M. Gillespie and Margaret Gillespie his wife of the county of Jefferson and state of Alabama of the first part and John C. Gillespie of the county of Blount and state of Alabama of the second part witnesseth whereas as the said Thos M. Gillespie and Margaret Gillespie his wife are entitled to an undivided interest in the estate of David Gillespie Sr. deceased and whereas the said parties of the first part being anxious to dispose of their interest in said estate for and in consideration of one promissory note calling for two hundred dollars dated on the first day of January in the year eighteen hundred and thirty seven due on the twenty fifth day of December eighteen hundred and thirty nine made payable to the said Thos M. Gillespie or bearer.
