indenture 23r day of December one thousand eight hundred and thirty six between Thomas J. Scott and Mary C. Scott his wife airs of the estate of David Gillespie sen deceased of the county of Jefferson and state of Alabama of the first part and John C. Gillespie of the county of Blount and state aforesaid of the second part.....anxious to dispose of their interest.....in consideration of 3 promissory notes each calling for two hundred and fifty dollars dated on the 19th day of Dec in 1836, one due 25th Dec 1837, second due 25th Dec 1838, third due 25th Dec 1839 made payable to the said Thomas J. Scott or bearer drawn by John C. Gillespie of the first part and T. M. Gillespie James Brown and C. T. F. Tannihill as security to said promissory notes....
