This is actually a set of four marriage books. They are split by alphabet:
- A - D
- E - K
- L - R
- S - Z
For convenience, the marriages from all four books are listed here as if they appeared in the same book. The names in these books are sorted in a seemingly random fashion, as weird or weirder than SOUNDEX. At the beginning of each letter of the alphabet is an index to that letter, showing what pages a particular name, or beginning letter combination for the name, will appear on. As an example, see the page below labeled C-index. The page numbers start anew for each letter of the alphabet. Sometimes, there may even be a split between the alphabet, such as Ca-Cn, then Co-Cz, with the page number starting new for each sub-section. If there are too many names to fit on one page, the same page number will appear multiple times. I have labeled these a, b, c, etc. The name shown below as a label is NOT the only name appearing on the page. It is merely the one I was searching for, or a random name from the page. There are many, many other names on the page, but they are not listed alphabetically on the page, so I couldn't show "first name - last name" and have it make sense. Other than doing a site search, you will probably have to check each page to see if your surname is listed. The only thing you can be certain of is this - if the name listed starts with a "C", all the other names on the page start with a "C".
These books are not on top of the short bookcases with the other marriage books - they are in tall bookcases up against the back wall
