Ryan. Catharine L. Ryan, daughter of J. W. and Nancy Lancaster, was born in Turkeetown, Cherokee (now Etowah) county, Ala, May 20, 1840. In 1850 she, with her parents, moved to Morgan county, Ala where she lived until the day of her death. In the year 1861 she was married to Henry Ryan, with whom she lived a happy life until, March 24, 1885, death severed their union. Previous to this her oldest daughter had married and in 1881 she died. At the time of her husbands death, she was prostrate upon the bed of affliction, which made theanguish more intense. She professed religion in her fourteenth year, and joined the ME Church, South, in which she lived a consistent and useful life. The summons came for her January 22, 1894, and in the language of one who knew her from chidhood, "She was ready to go.". (has more)
