SAMUEL EDWARD BROWN, 46, of Ragland, died Monday, June 25 [1979].

Brown is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gaylon Phillips Brown; two sons, Jim Edward and Keith Elbert Brown; and one daughter, Miss Samantha Brown, all of Ragland.

Other survivors include his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Elbert Brown of Pell City; and two sisters, Mrs. Doris Parnell of Ragland, and Mrs. Elizabeth Walker of Mobile.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Providence Baptist Church, and the body was buried in the adjoining cemetery.

Rev. Douglas Ford and Rev. Jimmy Coleman officiated the services with Kilgroe directing.

RAGLAND COUNCILMAN DIES SUDDENLY

The town of Ragland was saddened Tuesday by the sudden death of Councilman Samuel Edward Brown, age 46.

Brown, who was serving his first term as councilman since his election in 1976, was active in numerous civic and community activities including coaching boys and girls baseball teams.

Brown is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gaylon Phillips Brown; two sons, Jim Edward and Keith Elbert Brown; and one daughter, Miss Samantha Brown, all of Ragland.

Other survivors include his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Elbert Brown of Pell City; and two sisters, Mrs. Doris Parnell of Ragland, and Mrs. Elizabeth Walker of Mobile.

Johns McCulley, well known real estate developer of Sarasota, Fla, died early Thursday at Memorial Hospital in Sarasota.  His mother-in-law, Mrs. Claude Elledge, and Mrs. William Oberhelman, Mr. And Mrs. C. J. Elledge Jr, and their sons, William and Claude, left immediately for Sarasota, where McCulley will be buried.  Survivors include his wife, Mrs. McCulley, the former Annilu Elledge; a sister, Mrs. D. C. Webb of Knoxville, Tenn; a brother, Howard McCulley of New York City, and several nieces and nephews.  Plans for services will be announced.

SALLY BUNT LOVE, age 87 of Ragland, Alabama died Friday, January 5, 1979.  Survived by 4 sisters, Mrs. Ada Wilson, Gadsden, Mrs. Plina Lawley, Mrs. Lucy Hathcox and Mrs. Emma Kent of Ragland.  Funeral services were held Saturday, January 6 from the Chapel of the Kilgroe Funeral Home with interment Macedonia Cemetery.  Rev. MRS. ANNIE EMILY TRAMMELL, age 86 of Ragland, Alabama died Thursday, January 4, 1979. Survived by 2 sons, Forest and Chesley Trammell, 3 daughters, Mrs. Mattie Bunt, Mrs. Odell McDaniel and Mrs. Dester St. John, 2 brothers Johnson and Jack Grizzell, of Ragland, 12 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday, January 6 from the Macedonia Baptist Church interment adjoining cemetery. Rev. Arthur Greenwood and Rev. Archie Maddox officiating and Kilgroe directing.

ELZORA KELLEY GRAY, age 93, of Ragland, who passed away on August 11, 1999 in Pell City. She was a native of Majestic, AL, a resident of Ragland and also a homemaker. She was a member of Gray's Chapel Baptist Church. Funeral will be Satuday, August 14, at 12:00 noon at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with burial in Macedonia Baptist Cemetery, Ragland, AL. Rev. Doug Ford and Rev. Frank parrish are officiating. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rubin Gray. Survivors: three duaghters, Louise Bice of Justice, IL, Jeanette Pinkston, and Joan Gray, both of Ragland; eight sons, Richard Gray of Glenn Berine, MD, Rubin Gray, Jr. Of Fultondale, AL, Travis Gray, Albert Gray, John Gray and Larry Gray, all of Ragland, AL, Marvin Gray and James Gray, both of Cleveland, OH; 25 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, 13 nieces, five nephews, pallbears are Mark Gray, Derik Wolfe, Cathy Bice, James Davis, Matthew Dukes, James Michael Gray, Richard Barrett and Ray Barron.
