Pell City - Mrs. Grady Carlisle Bell, 59, of Bellflower, Calif., died Wednesday at a Longview, Tex., hospital after a brief illness.

Funeral services were scheduled today at 2 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church in Ragland with the Rev. John Hastins officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Kilgore Funeral Home in charge.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Sarah Chapman of Los Angeles, Mrs. Carolyn Sue Walker of Montgomery and Mrs. Yvonne Shaffer of Indiana; two sons, Edward James Carlisle of Auburndale, Fla., and William Carlisle of Haines City, Fla., three sisters, Mrs. Katie Phillips, Mrs. Minnie Phillips and Mrs. Lucy St. John, all of Ragland; three brothers, Robert Higginbotham and Buddy Higginbotham, both of Ragland, and Bradford Higginbotham of Longview, Tex; 17 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

SAMUEL EDWARD BROWN, 46, of Ragland, died Monday, June 25 [1979].

Brown is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gaylon Phillips Brown; two sons, Jim Edward and Keith Elbert Brown; and one daughter, Miss Samantha Brown, all of Ragland.

Other survivors include his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Elbert Brown of Pell City; and two sisters, Mrs. Doris Parnell of Ragland, and Mrs. Elizabeth Walker of Mobile.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Providence Baptist Church, and the body was buried in the adjoining cemetery.

Rev. Douglas Ford and Rev. Jimmy Coleman officiated the services with Kilgroe directing.

RAGLAND COUNCILMAN DIES SUDDENLY

The town of Ragland was saddened Tuesday by the sudden death of Councilman Samuel Edward Brown, age 46.

Brown, who was serving his first term as councilman since his election in 1976, was active in numerous civic and community activities including coaching boys and girls baseball teams.

Brown is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gaylon Phillips Brown; two sons, Jim Edward and Keith Elbert Brown; and one daughter, Miss Samantha Brown, all of Ragland.
