This family cemetery is currently in the Oconee National Forest, in the woods. I visited the Cox-Griggs cemetery in 2009, which is when these photos were taken, and was told it was "on the property", so I expected to see it from the house. I walked around the perimeter of the yard, peeking off into the woods as I walked, looking for any signs of old tombstones or even rocks to mark the family graves. Nope, didn't see it. It's actually about 2 miles away, what we might refer to as "the north 40". The red marker on the map below marks the cemetery, which is not visible from the road. You have to know where to park, which direction to start walking, then walk along an old rutted dirt road that looks like wagon carts made the deep ruts; you can't drive a car there. If you need to drive, you'll need a 4 wheeler or something similar.

The top photograph below with the rubbing was taken by David L. Carey who used to have a website, which is now gone. He also posted some information, including the photo, on the Georgia Tombstone Transcription Project, along with this text:

This photo, taken while a rubbing was being made illustrates the writing on his gravestone showing Cary Cox to be a Revolutionary War Soldier from South Carolina (this stone probably erected by the DAR sometime in the early 20th century).
