Groundbreaking
by Dr. David Campbell
Yesterday, May 2nd [1999], was a watershed day at Inman. The church broke ground on the new building we have been planning for years. Everyone has worked and planned and sacrificed to see yesterday as a reality. And what a day it was...
With Inman's agricultural roots, we decided to do things differently. Rick Minter came up with the idea to have the entire congregation pull a plow across the ground. And so each person in the church put their hands on the rope and pulled, and ground was broken. Guiding the plow was our longtime member Frank Reeves, one of the finest men I have ever known.
It was another reminder that Inman does something few many churches struggle with. They stand firmly with one foot in the past, never forgetting our roots, and one in the future, looking ahead to ministry in the 21st century. And yesterday… we were all standing tall.
Thankful for the folks at Inman,
David
