Quintus C. Grice was recommended for a License to Exhort at a Liberty Chapel church conference in 1885. Original records of the conference read:
---The Church met in Conference Sept. 19th, 1885. Brother J. R. Smith, P. C. [Pastor in Charge] in the Chair. Brother Q. C. Grice was recommended to the Quarterly Conference shortly to assemble, for License to Exhort. Conference then adjorned.

Only a few descendants remain in the congregation at this time, and the surname is no longer listed on the church register. However, in the early records of Liberty Chapel the Grice name was prominent. Information on Rev. Grice was gathered from the Fayette County Historical Society in 1996, as well as a few other resources.
Quintus Cincinnatus Grice was born in Henry County, Georgia in 1830. He died in Atlanta on June 23, 1915. He was the son of Garry Grice (born Johnson County, N.C. 2-20-1795; died Fayetteville, GA 10-19-1869) and Ann Lamar (daughter of Philip Lamar and Ruth Davis; born 2-16-1791; died 8-10-1841). Garry Grice was an early land owner and government official. Garry Grice was apparently an Inferior Court Judge in Henry County; a Representative from Henry County; Inferior Court Judge in Spalding County; tax collector; and census taker. Quintus is listed as having three brothers. The older was Washington C. Grice and the younger was Yates Grice (FTM World Family Tree--CD Rom). Some Grice family members are buried on the Towaliga River near Teamon Road in what is now Spalding County--was then Henry County--on what was Grice land in District 2, Lots 144-145-146 (Henry County, GA, Family Graveyards by V. T. Rainer, 1980.) According to unidentified records in the Fayette County Historical Society, Q. C. Grice also had a sister, listed as T. C., who married M. L. Yates and moved to Douglas County. The same records show his brother Washington L. as a teacher and then an attorney (married to Mattie V. Warren of Perry, GA) moving to Hawkinsville, GA. Q. C. and this brother served in the C. S. A.
Q. C. Grice practiced law in Fairburn with Hon. L. S. Roan. He lived in the Inman community and served as a Local Preacher in the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
Q. C. Grice, Esq. married Sallie (Sarah) C. Gray on Oct. 12, 1858. She was born in Fayette County, GA in 1838 to Ambrose William Gray and Sarah Collier Gray. Their marriage announcement in the church newspaper listed the presiding minister as Rev. M. [Mozee] Harp (p. 527, Marriage and Death Notices from the Southern Christian Advocate: Vol. I; 1837-1860, by B. H. Holcomb, Southern Historical Press, 1979). Mrs. Grice died on May 18,1899, was buried in Inman Cemetery with her parents. At this time it is not known where Rev. Grice was buried.
In the Fayette County, GA census for 1860, this family is listed as:

H. C.--2 & 1/2 year old female
T. C. Grice--26 year old female (apparently Q. C. Grice's sister)
G. C. King--45 year old male
In Vol. 4 of the Roster of Confederate Soldiers of Georgia 1861-65 (p. 763) the entry for Q. C. Grice is as follows:
Quintus C. Grice--2nd Lt. [enlisted] Mar 4, 1862. Elected 1st Lt. Mar. 17, 1862. Resigned May 23, 1862. Born in Henry Co., GA 3-18-1830. Entered Confederate Soldiers Home in Atlanta GA Jan. 5, 1915. Died 6-23-1915. In Co. D., 44th Reg.--GA Volunteer Infantry; Army of No. Virginia; CSA; Clayton Co., GA, Estes' Guard.
