This indenture made and entered into this the eleventh day of January in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven between Caralton T. F. Tanahill and Margaret P Tanahill his wife heirs of the estate of David Gillespie senr deceased of the county of Jefferson and state of Alabama of the first part and John C. Gillespie of the county of Blount and state aforesaid of the second part witnesseth wherein the said Caralton T F. Tanahill and Margaret P. Tanahill his wife are entitled to an undivided interest in the estate of David Gillespie Sen deceased and whereas the said parties of the first being anxious to dispose of their interest in said estate for and in consideration of the sum of seven hundred and fifty dollars cash witnesseth for in consideration of the said money delivered in the hands of the said party of the first part the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged before the sealing of this instrument and whereas also the said Carolton T. F. Tanahill and Margaret P. his said wife do by these fore and for the consideration aforesaid grant bargain sell and convey and ???? to the said John C. Gillespie of the second part all such right title property and material whatsoever both real and personal in law of equity which the said Caralton T. F. Tanahill and his wife Margaret P hath should or aught to have in the estate of David Gillispie sen deceased and the said Caralton T. F. Tanahill and Margaret P his wife for themselves their heirs executors and administators do covenant and forever and grant to and with the said John C Gillsepie his heirs executors administrators and ???? in maner and form aforesaid all such right title property and interest whatsoever which they have or may have in said David Gillespie Sr estate and the said Caralton T. F. Tanahill and his wife Margaret P do further direct and authorize the said John C. Gillespie or his heirs or assigns to do perform all such acts in their said names which may be right and ??? for him to obtain their said interest in said estate so mentioned as aforesaid in witness hereof the said parties of the first part have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals in the presents of ?? on Friday(?) and year above writen. Hugh B. Gillespie and wife Margaret Gillespie both of county of Jefferson, for twelve hundred dollars in hand paid by John C. Gillispie of county of Blount give quit claim in favor of John C. Gillespie for our right title claim interst and demand of in and to --- part of the estate ------- and personal of David Gillespie Sr deceased to which we are entitled. As one of the legal representatives of the said David Gillespie Sr deceased......set our hands and affixed our seals this ___ day of January A D one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven.

Indenture entered fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty seven between Thomas M. Gillespie and Margaret Gillespie his wife of the county of Jefferson and state of Alabama of the first part and John C. Gillespie of the county of Blount and state of Alabama of the second part witnesseth whereas as the said Thos M. Gillespie and Margaret Gillespie his wife are entitled to an undivided interest in the estate of David Gillespie Sr. deceased and whereas the said parties of the first part being anxious to dispose of their interest in said estate for and in consideration of one promissory note calling for two hundred dollars dated on the first day of January in the year eighteen hundred and thirty seven due on the twenty fifth day of December eighteen hundred and thirty nine made payable to the said Thos M. Gillespie or bearer.

[T14 R1W w1/2 of sw 1/4 sec26] This indenture made this fourteenth day of January one thousand eight hundred and thirty one, between John Little Esq of the county of Blunt in the State of Alabama of the one part, and David Gillespie Sr of county and state afforesaid of the other part, witnesseth that the said John Little, for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and fifty dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath this day bargained, sold, - - - -- and conveyed and by these presents doth bargain, sell a lien - - - - and convey unto the said David Gillespie, Sr all that certain tract of parcel of land lying and lieing in the county of Blount and known and designated as the west half of the south west quarter of section twenty six in township fourteen of range one west containing seventy nine acres and ninety nine hundreths of an acre. To have and to hold the above described land with the tenements and appertances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining unto the said David Gillespie Sr his heirs and assigns forever. And the said John Little esq for himself heirs executors and administrators doth warrant and will forever defend the title to the above described and hereby granted premises unto the said David Gillespie Senr his heirs and assigns from and against the claim of himself his heirs and all and every person or persons claiming or holding under him the said John Little and also against the lawful title claim or demand of all and every person or persons whomsoever claiming or holding by from or under the government of the United States. In testimony whereof the said John Little hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written. Signed sealed and delivered in the presents of

Enlisted 21 sep 1862 at Talladega, AL, discharged 4 July 1865, can't do manual labor due to old age, postoffice address is Morris, AL. Signs his own name. Witnesses: Ples Farley, J. H. Belcher. Has now become disabled by reason of sickness and old age, po is Morris, business of farming, taxable property consists of land. Copy of check #8537 for $11.88 dated 1 Oct 1899 from auditors office. Endorsement on back of check - Durrut not --- being delivered by June 1, 1900 was returned by Judge of Probate Jeffreson County and sum is hereby cancelled, June 21, 1900, W. P White State Auditor.

Husband was killed 1894, witness: J. M. Gillespie, J. R. Logan. Widows po Rockford Route 1, pension roll #15978, living w/J. B. Waites, born Hamilton, Perry Co, GA on 1 Apr 1837 (now is 1922, she is about age 85), name of father Stephen Thomas, decd, he died Rockford, AL. Husband was David Anderson Gillispie, married Rockford Al 1866, he died Rockford, AL, was living with him prior to his death, never divorced from him. She has been married more than once, first husband William Henry Gillespie, in 1860, Rockford, AL. Not on another pension roll. Lived in GA as a child, perry county. Lived Hamilton 8-10 years, doesn't remember when moved to Alabama, was a child, husband enlisted Rockford Coosa Co, under Colonel Hall, Captain L. H. Crumpler(?), husband was wounded, never captured, he did not apply for pension or draw one from another state. She has no real estate. Yearly income nothing except 3rd class pension, signed 7 aug 1822.

Po prattville, AL age 76 yr, 9 mo, 13 days, lived alabama all his life, enlisted mar 1864 Notasulga AL, in infantry, captain C. C. Knowles, colonel I. G. W. Steadman, served about 18 months, not wounded, was taken prisoner, captured Dec 15, 1864 in Nashville, Tenn, confined in Camp Douglas, Illinois, paroled by taking oath of allegiance, was paroled about 26th 1865 at Camp Douglas, because war closed. Parole not attached, he lost it. Married in 1880, wife is dead (15 Sep 1923). Doesn't remember if his name was taken in last confederate soldier census, belongs to Camp Wadsworth a camp of United Confederate Veterans. Register voter at precinct 1 autauga co, al, living at his home. Witnesses: D. B. Chambliss, R. E. Savage, both living Prattville, AL.

Application says Nellie Frances Gillespie, she is widow, husband was private in Capt Truss Co of volunteers, he died of disease, her po is North Birmingham, taxable property is 1/2 acre. Signed with her mark, name Nellie F. Gillespie. Other pages say M. F. Husband died 1 Dec 1895. Witnesses James Higginbotham 12 Jun 1899, A. T. Vaughn 12 Jun 1899. She has 1/2 acre in Blount co value $40, 2 cattle $30, household & kitchen furniture $25, total $55. She signs several pages herself, M. F. Gillespie.
