A lot of my families who started out in other counties had children who eventually moved to Jefferson County, including the surnames of Vaughn, Gray, Gillespy, Prince, Trammell, Arnold, Gibbs, Kennedy and Higginbotham.

My Vaughn family moved to Cherokee County, Alabama from Virginia, making stops in North and South Carolina. Some of them stayed in the Centre area, while others moved to De Kalb, Blount, and Jefferson counties.
