MRS. MARTHA CHRISTINE "DOOGIE" PHILLIPS. Services for Mrs. Martha Christine "Doogie" Phillips, 81, of Ragland, Alabama were held Friday, May 26, 1995 at 2:00 pm from Providence Baptist Church of Ragland with the Rev. Doug Ford, the Rev. Frank Hunt, and the Rev. Shon Phillips officiating. Interment was in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by 2 daughters, Gaylon Brown, Carolyn Hunt; 2 sons, Sidney Phillips and his wife Vicki Phillips, Cedric Phillips and his wife Sarah Phillips; 1 sister, Maggie Holder; 1 brother, Travis St. John; 15 Grandchildren; 16 Great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Phillips was a native and lifelong resident of Ragland, Alabama. She was a lifelong member of Providence Baptist Church. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, L. Z. Phillips.

SAMUEL EDWARD BROWN, 46, of Ragland, died Monday, June 25 [1979].

Brown is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gaylon Phillips Brown; two sons, Jim Edward and Keith Elbert Brown; and one daughter, Miss Samantha Brown, all of Ragland.

Other survivors include his parents, Mr. And Mrs. Elbert Brown of Pell City; and two sisters, Mrs. Doris Parnell of Ragland, and Mrs. Elizabeth Walker of Mobile.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Providence Baptist Church, and the body was buried in the adjoining cemetery.

Rev. Douglas Ford and Rev. Jimmy Coleman officiated the services with Kilgroe directing.

RAGLAND COUNCILMAN DIES SUDDENLY

The town of Ragland was saddened Tuesday by the sudden death of Councilman Samuel Edward Brown, age 46.

Brown, who was serving his first term as councilman since his election in 1976, was active in numerous civic and community activities including coaching boys and girls baseball teams.

Brown is survived by his widow, Mrs. Gaylon Phillips Brown; two sons, Jim Edward and Keith Elbert Brown; and one daughter, Miss Samantha Brown, all of Ragland.

Funeral services Wednesdy, 2:30 pm, Baptist Church West Blocton. Interment Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Collins Funeral Home in charge.
