W. E. Barnes, of Avondale
Walter Ernest Barnes, 75, a retired real estate broker, died this morning at his home, 3800 Fourth Ave. S. Born in Gadsden, Mr. Barnes had made his home in Birmingham for the past 59 years. He was a member of the South Avondale Baptist Church for 59 years, serving as a deacon for 50 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Julia Wilder Barnes; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Barnes Wanbaugh of Sunnyvale , Calif.; two sons, Wilder E. Barnes of Birmingham and Walter David Barnes of Baton Rouge, La, four grandchildren and a niece. Funeral services will be announced by Johns-Ridouts.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 1am from the South Avondale Baptist Church. The Rev. James E. Davidson and T. R. Mulinax officiating, interment Elmwood Cemetery. Active pallbearers, Paul. C. Morgan, O. J. Caldwell, John Whitley, W. C. Bentley, B. F. Holmes, E. F. Jones. T. Fred Crotwell, M.. D.
