GRAY, MABEL MARIA THORNBURG, age 84, of Alabaster, died Wednesday, June 11, 2008. She lived in Midfield for 20 years and was a Sunday school teacher for several years in her church. She was a member of Columbiana First Baptist Church for six years. Mrs. Gray was preceded in death by her first husband, O.C. Frazier; her second husband, John Gray; and her parents, Bessie and Floyd Thornburg. Survivors include a son, Don O. Frazier; a daughter, Brenda Frazier (Jim) Young; grandchildren, Nathan Frazier and Noliena Frazier; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Hazel Biggers of Jacksonville, Florida. Visitation will be Saturday, June 14, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Ridout's Southern Heritage Funeral Home, Pelham. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home's chapel with Rev. Mark Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Ragland. Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Mabel Maria Thornburg Gray.

GIBBS, WILLIAM HAMPTON "Bill", 79, of Bayview, died Tuesday, February 27, 2007. He was a WWII Army Veteran and retired from U.S. Steel after 42 years. Funeral Services will be held Friday, March 2, at 11:00 AM at Crestview Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Crestview Memorial Gardens. Brothers John Price and Charles Click will officiate. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy A. Gibbs; daughter, Sheila Dawn (Lester) Barnes of Bayview; three grandchildren, Cacey Adam (Debra) Barnes, Christian Miles Barnes, and William Austin Barnes; sister, Audrey Mae Watkins of Concord; mother-in-law, Leona Aaron of Bayview; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Calvert, Ella Estelle Farley, age 87, of Fultondale, AL, died November 25, 2004. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Fultondale. Survivors include sons, Perry E. (Betty) Farley of Mt. Olive, Mickey L. (Sue Ellen) Farley of Rowlett, TX; daughter, Mary (Voight) Phillips of Gardendale, AL, seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild; sisters, Sarah Howell of Birmingham, AL, Evelyn Cole of Opelika, AL; sister-in-law, Hattie Smith of Zephyrhills, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, November 27, 2004 at 2:00pm at Morgans at Gardendale Chapel, with burial in Moncrief Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11:30 am until service time. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Morgans at Gardendale Funeral Home directing.

DORMAN, JAMES A., Jr., age 83, of Pinson, Alabama. Born March 2, 1923 to the
late James Alfred, Sr. and Estelle Hallmark Dorman. He passed away on November
8, 2006. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Gayle Dorman; son,
Richard Dorman; and brother, Donald Dorman.

He is survived by his sons, Lynn (Sharon) Dorman of Panama City, FL, Wayne
(Sherry) Dorman and Barry (Susan) Dorman of Pinson; and his daughter, Brenda
(Jesse) Hauskins of Hendersonville, TN.

Mr. Richard A. Dorman age 53, of the Bradford Community died on September 29, 2004. His was a 1969 graduate of Mortimer Jordan High School. Mr. Dorman was employed with Alabama Power Company, he was a member a Huges Memorial Baptist Church. He was a avid golfer and a hugh Auburn fan. He was preceeded in death by his mother, Dorothy Gayle Dorman.
Survivors include his father J.A. Dorman Jr. Brothers Lynn and wife Sharon Dorman of Panama City Beach, Fl. Wayne Dorman of Bradford, Al. Barry and wife Susan Dorman of Bradford, Al. Sister Brenda and husband Jesse Hauskins of Hendersonville, Tn. Nieces Amanda Groce, Ashley Dorman, Bailey Hauskins.

Pallbearers will be nephews Ethan Dorman, Barry Dorman Jr., Timothy Dorman, Brandon Dorman, Payton Hauskins and Casey Groce.

Hart Vaughan dies at Hayden.

Hart Vaughan, one of the oldest citizens of this county, died at his home in Hayden on Wednesday of last week, his death being due to asthma.
Mr. Vaughan was 82 years of age and was one of the early settlers of that section of the county. He was born and reared In that community and spent most of his life there.
Mr. Vaughan was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and took an active part in the early development of religious activities in that part of the county.
The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Nancy Vaughan, of Hayden; one son, Burl Vaughan, of Hayden; five daughters, Mrs. V. S. Culwell, of Warrior; Mrs. T. T. McLemore, of Trafford; Mrs. Rufus Calvert, of route 1, Trafford, Mrs. Ernest Mulverhill, of route 1, Warrior; Mrs. Henry Standridge, of Hayden; one brother, Richard Vaughn, of Remlap, and one sister, Mrs. A. J. Turner, of Cleveland.
The funeral services were held at Mt. Olive Church Thursday and were conducted by Rev. T. B. Nation, Rev. C. F. Stephenson and Rev. J. C. Calvert.
Owens of Warrior was in charge.

HAYGOOD, MR. WILLIAM ROGER, age 58, of Montgomery, died July 5, 1998 in Birmingham. Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 8, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Martin Funeral Home Chapel with Lamar Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Billingsley. Funeral services were held at 2 pm today at Brown-Service Norwood Chapel for Mrs. Ethel Wynn, 87, of 4425 28th Way North. Burial was in Old Walker's Chapel cemetery.

Mrs. Wynn, a lifelong resident of Jefferson County, died Tuesday at her home. She was a member of the Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, William R. Wynn of Klamath Falls, Oregon; two daughters, Mrs. Betty Layne of Birmingham and Mrs. Lois Melton of Fairhope; three sisters, Mrs. Tressie HIcks of Center Point, Mrs. Annie McKeever of Mulga and Mrs. Mimmie Quinn of Winston County; and two brothers, Azz Higgins of Mulga and Palmer Higgins of Leeds.
